Designing A Wayfinding Program That Grows With Your Facility: Modularity And Environmental Graphic Design
Facility managers are finding out that a wayfinding program incorporating modular designs allows for flexibility and innovation, while keeping costs under control. Robert Brengman of Corbin Design, a nationally recognized wayfinding firm, will lead a discussion describing how modularity works on a number of levels, including the most efficient techniques for integrating modularity into a wayfinding and identity design process, strategies for working with modular sign companies, and maintenance and management issues. Finally, the presentation will offer a sample design process used in developing a modular program.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss how modularity allows for a more flexible wayfinding system, saving costs up front and over time.
- Explain the strengths and weakness of incorporating modular design into a wayfinding system.
- Examine specific case studies on how modularity has been used in healthcare settings.
- Determine which aspects of a wayfinding system are most appropriate for a modular system, and why.
